ZETA Engages in Critical Discussions at Argus Clean Ammonia IMEA 2025
ZETA took part in the Argus Clean Ammonia IMEA Conference in Abu Dhabi from February 3-5, engaging in critical discussions on clean hydrogen and ammonia markets. The event began with Hydrogen Focus Day, setting the stage for in-depth conversations on policy, market trends, and emerging challenges.
ZETA Secretary General Jan Haizmann delivered a key presentation on "Derivatives and CBAM Limitations: What Do They Mean for Alternatives to Ammonia?" He outlined CBAM’s implementation timeline and its implications for MENA-based hydrogen producers, emphasizing the need for robust, verifiable data on renewable energy sources. Haizmann raised a pressing question—"Is Europe too difficult?"—pointing to the high costs of compliance while highlighting opportunities for MENA countries to take the lead in green ammonia production.
Jan then participated in a panel discussion on "Why Ammonia is the Current Hydrogen Derivative of Choice for Hard-to-Abate Sectors," moderated by Stefan Krümpelmann from Argus Media. He was joined by:
With policies like CBAM reshaping global trade, ZETA continues to drive conversations on hydrogen, ammonia, and compliance markets in the MENA region. A big thank you to Argus Media for fostering these important discussions!
