The World Utilities Congress took place in Abu Dhabi, where our Secretary General, Jan Haizmann, attended the conference.
On Day 1, in the PowerGEN Theatre, ZETA (Zero Emissions Traders Alliance) presented an Innovation Showcase. Jan discussed Clean Energy Hubs in the GCC, emphasizing the importance of building regional sustainable markets and transforming the energy landscape by promoting zero-emission markets, establishing standard contracts, and shaping effective regulatory frameworks to drive the region’s decarbonization efforts.
On Day 3, during the Strategic Conference, ZETA was represented in the session “Forging a Sustainable Regulatory Roadmap” alongside Stephen Tudhope from PwC, Laura Thomson from EWEC, and Dr. Saif Alqubaisi from the Department of Energy in Abu Dhabi. The discussion focused on aligning policies with net-zero ambitions and addressing evolving energy demands.
Adapting to changing energy systems, enhancing security, and maintaining strong communication with stakeholders were highlighted as key elements to overcoming these challenges. A sustainable roadmap is precisely what this region needs, and it’s what ZETA continues to advocate for!
