Our theme for this roundtable is “GCC Clean Energy Hub: a framework for a net zero/low carbon energy trading in the Gulf,” which promises to be a groundbreaking exploration of sustainable energy solutions.

The Second ZETA Breakfast Roundtable aims to amplify the importance of market tools in reducing carbon emissions and boosting renewable energy uptake. We will delve into the concept of a “clean energy Exchange,” a revolutionary marketplace for trading “green molecules.” This roundtable will feature a keynote address by Bert den Ouden, a renowned pioneer in power and gas exchanges. He will share insights from the upcoming HyExchange green hydrogen trade center in The Netherlands, highlighting its unique approach using “Guarantees of green H2-Origin.” This is analogous to green power certificates (like RECs) in Europe and offers a glimpse into what could be necessary for establishing climate-neutral marketplaces in the GCC and the broader MENA region.
We are honored to host eminent speakers from NEOM/Enowa, HyXchange, Dii Desert Energy / Desertec3.0, and ZETA Global (Zero Emissions Traders Alliance). These experts will shed light on the ZETA initiatives and discuss the transformative potential of a clean energy hub approach.
