ZETA participated in the 1st EU-GCC Investment & Finance Green Transition Forum on November 26, 2024, at the St. Regis Hotel in Abu Dhabi, organized by the EU-GCC Cooperation on Green Transition project. Secretary General Jan Haizmann joined a panel discussion on "Building a Green Finance & Investment Ecosystem in the GCC," where he highlighted the economic and regulatory conditions needed to engage the private sector in GCC carbon markets.

The forum brought together key experts, including George von Waldburg of ICE Futures Europe and Thomas Bernheim from the European Commission’s DG Climate Action. They explored how carbon markets could support the green transition in the GCC, discussing mechanisms such as carbon pricing, taxes, and cap-and-trade systems, as well as financial instruments like green bonds and sustainability-linked loans.

Jan emphasized the importance of regional strategies for maximizing the GCC's potential to commoditize carbon, generating revenue to support energy transitions. The event, led by Spyros Kouvelis, provided valuable insights into financing the energy transition and was a significant step toward shaping the future of green finance in the region.

The Summary Report, highlighting key discussions and insights from the forum, is now available for download. Dive into the key insights, discussions, and outcomes shaping the path to sustainable investment and green finance across the EU and GCC regions. đź”— https://lnkd.in/djE72BnD
