Market Design Group
The Market Design Group focuses on enhancing liquidity and transparency in carbon markets by developing primary and secondary markets aligned with international best practices.
Standardization Group
The Standardization Group focuses on creating essential templates and frameworks to streamline trading in clean commodities and ensure compliance with global standards.
Market Design Group
  1. Product Definition and Auction Design
We define carbon market products and design auctions to establish a liquid and efficient trading environment, reducing climate-related risks.
  2. Incentives for Carbon Trading
We explore tax benefits and other incentives for companies committed to decarbonization, advocating for a unified regional carbon market to replace fragmented national systems.
  3. Transparent Price Discovery Mechanisms
We create methodologies for transparent price discovery in carbon trading, leveraging best practices in auction and market structure design.
Standardization Group
  1. CBAM-Compliant Power Purchase Agreements (CPPAs)
We are developing a standardized CPPA template, available on the ZETA website, in collaboration with I-REC to ensure CBAM compliance. ZETA also partners with PONTON to create a smart contract for financially settled PPAs, enabling paperless transactions.
  2. Standard Template for Carbon Trading
We develop standardized products and OTC templates to facilitate CO2 certificate trading across regional markets. The initiative includes both paper and electronic templates, integrated with smart contract functionality
  3. Market-Making Arrangements
To boost activity in secondary carbon markets, we design market-making arrangements with volume commitments, incentivizing both buyers and sellers.
  4. Green Hydrogen Certification
We create a foundational Green Hydrogen Certificate for title transfer within KSA and the GCC region, including a registry function or collaboration with a registry provider. The certification aligns with regulatory compliance requirements and contributes to a hydrogen benchmark.
  5. Clean Commodity Definitions
We standardize definitions for sustainable products to support consistent contract terms and trading activities
